<\/a><\/p>\n

The root cause of climate change in Sierra Leone lies in the increase of carbon monoxide emissions resulting from various human activities, including burning fossil fuels for energy, transportation, and industrial processes.<\/p>\n

As a result, the country has experienced a drastic reduction in its natural forest canopy, with less than 5% of the original forests remaining intact. This environmental challenge has far-reaching impacts on Sierra Leone, affecting not only its ecosystem but also its social, economic, and political stability.Among the immediate effects of climate change in Sierra Leone are the dangers posed to its natural boundaries, such as the Mano River that separates Sierra Leone and Liberia.<\/p>\n

Moreover, certain areas in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, face risks during the rainy season, with flooding and droughts affecting up to 70% of the population. These extreme weather events lead to loss of lives and properties.<\/p>\n
