Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>In a remarkable achievement, the Faith Healing Agricultural Development Organization (F.H.D.O) rice harvest this year at Mambu\u2019s Rice Farm has garnered widespread acclaim as a model for agricultural productivity and self sufficiency in Sierra Leone, under the Government\u2019s flagship programme better known as the \u201cFeed Salone\u201d initiative. The astonishing success of the FHDO\u2019s agricultural project has not only transformed the local farming landscape but also positively impacted the lives of numerous individuals in the region.<\/p>\n

Located in Royanka Village, the Mambu\u2019s Rice Farm spans an impressive 106 acres out of a total 306 acres allocated for rice cultivation this year. Additionally, the farm dedicated 60 acres to corn, 14 acres to groundnut, and houses approximately 5,000 chickens at Yainkasa village. This agricultural endeavor has led to significant employment opportunities for residents in neighboring villages, with seven women\u2019s farmer groups being the primary beneficiaries. Moreover, the farm has implemented a microcredit scheme that extends financial support to six villages, namely the Gbomsamba, Royeama, Woreh Yeama, Yainkassa, Royanka, and Maronkoh villages in northern Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

In a Press Statement, Pastor Francis A. M. Mambu, the Director of F.H.D.O and a respected preacher-farmer hailing from Kailahun District, attributed the farm\u2019s extraordinary success to the significance of timing in agriculture. He expressed immense fulfillment and viewed this endeavor as an opportunity to serve his country. Pastor Mambu\u2019s dream is to see F.H.D.O expand its reach to every district and chiefdom in Sierra Leone, ultimately improving the lives of the less fortunate.<\/p>\n

This thriving farm, brimming with growth prospects, is involved in processing and marketing locally produced rice, vegetables, and poultry. It also provides invaluable support to local farmers and over 500 households. Notably, the farm has ventured into mushroom farming for both local and international markets. To further their noble mission of uplifting local communities from poverty and ensuring food security, Mambu\u2019s Rice Farm is appealing for support from the Government of Sierra Leone and other key stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Pa Mambu, a food security Ambassador, emphasized the financial and machinery challenges facing the farm project while expressing gratitude for the support received from the Ken Royal Foundation and other well-wishers.<\/p>\n

The District Agriculture office of the Ministry of Agriculture was present at the rice harvest launch, and Jane Fea Kabba-Sei, a representative, commended the farm\u2019s outstanding quality and quantity of produce. She encouraged Pastor Mambu to persist in this endeavor as a means of achieving self-sufficiency in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the Ken Royal Foundation, one of the organizations supporting the farm, Jeff Fisher expressed his contentment with the farm\u2019s remarkable harvest this year and pledged ongoing support for Pastor Mambu\u2019s inspirational initiative.<\/p>\n

The Mambu\u2019s Rice Farm stands as a testament to the power of dedication and determination. Beginning as a grassroots project with minimal external support, it has now earned its place as a model for sustainable agriculture and community development in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n
