Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio\u2019s focus on feeding the nation, the people of Kori chiefdom in Moyamba District have passionately engaged in intensive mechanized rice farming within their communities.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Chief Peter Yambasu, the Chiefdom Speaker of Kori chiefdom, highlighted the strides made in this agricultural endeavor. Since 2020, he has been a pioneer in mechanized farming, boasting an impressive cultivation of over Ninety Acres of rice in Gbuhun village this year. Musa Yamba, another farmer in the chiefdom, also embraced the project in 2021 and successfully cultivated over Sixty Five Acres of rice.<\/p>\n

Despite their dedication, Chief Peter Yambasu shed light on the challenges plaguing these farmers. Issues such as inadequate farm tools, fertilizer shortages, lack of storage facilities, dry floors, and, most critically, financial support were identified as hindrances to their efforts.<\/p>\n

While Chief Peter Yambasu has received modest financial aid from Njala University, the pressing need for storage facilities during the harvest season remains a paramount concern. Expressing his distress, he earnestly implored the government and NGOs to intervene by providing essential resources like storage facilities and dry floors. His heartfelt plea stemmed from the desire to ensure that the toils of both himself and the dedicated farmers in his chiefdom do not go to waste.<\/p>\n

The fervent appeal from Chief Peter Yambasu stands as a call for support and solidarity, emphasizing the crucial necessity for external assistance to fortify the agricultural ambitions of Kori chiefdom and, by extension, contribute to the nation\u2019s food security goals.<\/p>\n
