Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The Office of the Clerk of Parliament issues a crucial notice to both current and former Members of Parliament regarding the use of outdated Vehicular Number Plates.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\u201cIt has come to our attention that certain individuals persist in displaying Old Number Plates on their vehicles, which are now obsolet\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a previous communication, the Clerk of Parliament had explicitly instructed Members of Parliament to surrender the Old Vehicular Number Plates. However, it has been observed that some individuals have not complied with this directive.<\/p>\n

As of today, 11th December 2023, the Clerk of Parliament has granted a 72-hour grace period for MPs to promptly surrender the Old Vehicular Number Plates to the Office of the Clerk of Parliament. Failure to comply with this ultimatum will result in severe consequences.<\/p>\n

Members of Parliament are hereby reminded that they are exclusively authorized to utilize the current Vehicular Number Plates designated for MPs. Any continued use of the outdated plates is a direct violation of parliamentary regulations.<\/p>\n

To enforce compliance, the names of MPs who fail to surrender the Old Vehicular Number Plates within the stipulated time frame will be made public, drawing the attention of the Inspector General of Police.<\/p>\n

In response to this matter, the Inspector General of Police and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) have received explicit directives to take swift action. They are mandated to arrest and prosecute any individuals found in possession of and still utilizing the Old Vehicular Number Plates for MPs.<\/p>\n

Members of Parliament are earnestly urged to adhere to this announcement promptly. The effective enforcement of this directive is paramount to maintaining the integrity of parliamentary regulations and ensuring the proper use of Vehicular Number Plates designated for Members of Parliament.<\/p>\n

It is imperative that all concerned parties cooperate fully to facilitate the smooth transition from the old to the current Vehicular Number Plates. The Office of the Clerk of Parliament appreciates the understanding and compliance of all Members of Parliament in this matter.<\/p>\n
