Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The Kenema Police Division has reinvigorated the Chiefdom Policing Partnership Committee (CPPC) in Tunkai Chiefdom, marking a significant step towards creating a secure environment and fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the local community.<\/p>\n

This collaborative effort was made possible through the combined initiatives of the Community Relations Department (CRD) and the Operations Department of the Kenema Division. Chief Inspector of Police and Commanding Officer of Ngegwema Police Post, Abdulia Amara, extended a warm welcome to the team, assuring everyone of their security. He highlighted the relative calmness within his area of responsibility, attributing the decrease in crime to the continuous and collaborative support from the community.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the meeting was elucidated by Sub Inspector Brima James Musa, the Community Relations Officer for Kenema Division, who emphasized that the CPPC was not a novel concept in Tunkai Chiefdom but had previously existed for several years. Musa expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner in which the committee had ceased to function.<\/p>\n

He announced the team\u2019s mission to revive the CPPC in Tunkai Chiefdom and urged stakeholders to identify dedicated, trustworthy, and physically capable youths to serve as Community Safety Volunteers. Musa underscored the importance of unbiased selection, free from political, tribal, or other biases. To ensure sustainability, the police pledged to provide basic security training for the identified volunteers, who would then be entrusted to the chiefdom authorities to act as auxiliaries to the police.<\/p>\n

In support of the partnership, Inspector Mohamed Corneh, the Operations Officer for Kenema Division, commended the people of Tunkai for prioritizing security. He stressed the evolution of policing, asserting that crime-free communities could only be achieved through collaborative efforts between the police and the community. Corneh warned against associating the reactivation of the CPPC with pending paramount chieftaincy elections, emphasizing that it aimed at enhancing public safety through intelligence-driven operations.<\/p>\n

Expressing gratitude, Chief Mohamed Mansaray, the caretaker of the Chiefdom and Chiefdom Speaker, commended the police management in Kenema for their commendable initiative. Acknowledging the vastness of Tunkai Chiefdom and the limitations of police manpower, Mansaray urged chiefdom authorities to fully support the CPPC and Community Safety Volunteers for the collective interest of the Chiefdom and Sierra Leone. He pledged unwavering support, affirming Tunkai Chiefdom\u2019s commitment to promoting security and related issues. The Media Unit of the Kenema Police Division reported these developments.<\/p>\n
