Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara ESQ, a prominent member of the main opposition All Peoples Congress Party (APC) and legal representative to Former President Ernest Bai Koroma, has expressed deep concern about the recent corruption investigation involving the Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Paran Umar Tarawalley, and his wife, Mrs. Abibatu Tarawally.<\/p>\n

Kamara raised questions about when citizens would benefit from the government\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

On January 14, 2024, the Anti-Corruption Commission released a press statement shedding light on an ongoing investigation into claims that the Clerk of Parliament improperly employed his wife without adhering to due processes. The inquiry also revealed that Mrs. Abibatu Tarawally was receiving a monthly salary without fulfilling her duties.<\/p>\n

In response, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara compared the Sierra Leone situation to Michaela Wrong\u2019s novel \u201cIt\u2019s our turn to eat,\u201d emphasizing the Clerk of Parliament\u2019s wife being on the payroll without contributing any work. While acknowledging that critics may link such issues to the APC, Kamara questioned when it would be the people\u2019s turn to benefit from governance.<\/p>\n

He remarked, \u201cSierra Leone today, is best described in Michaela Wrong\u2019s novel \u201c It\u2019s our turn to eat\u201d.
