Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Sierra Leone\u2019s President Julius Maada Bio has expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Namibia, following the passing of the late President Hage Geingob.<\/b><\/p>\n

President Geingob passed away on Sunday while undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in the capital, Windhoek.<\/p>\n

Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba conveyed the news, stating that Mr Geingob breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday morning. By his side were his beloved wife, Madame Monica Geingos, and his children, according to Mr Mbumba\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n

The 82-year-old leader had recently disclosed his battle with cancer to the public last month. Despite his diagnosis, he had planned to travel to the US for treatment, to return to Namibia on February 2.<\/p>\n

President Geingob assumed office in 2015 and was in the midst of serving his second and final term as president.<\/p>\n

In a statement, President Bio described President Geingob as a visionary leader dedicated to good governance and Pan-Africanism. Bio acknowledged Geingob\u2019s legacy of leadership, integrity, and commitment to the well-being of his citizens. He emphasized that the passing of President Geingob is not only a loss for Namibia but a significant one for the entire African continent.<\/p>\n

President Bio conveyed Sierra Leone\u2019s solidarity with Namibia during this period of national mourning, offering thoughts and prayers for comfort and solace as Namibia navigates through the grief.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the people of Namibia, Africa and the family of the late President Hage Geingob.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe passing of President Geingob is not only a loss for Namibia but also a great loss for the entire African continent.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Geingob was a visionary leader, an apostle of good governance and Pan-Africanism, who dedicated his life to the service of his country and the advancement of the African people.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis legacy of leadership, integrity, and commitment to the well-being of his citizens will be remembered and cherished.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government and people of Sierra Leone stand in solidarity with Namibia in this difficult time of national mourning.<\/p>\n
