Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Sierra Leone\u2019s Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Haja Dr. Ramatulai Wurie, declared during a special conference that the awaited list of selected students for the Grants-in-aid program will be unveiled today.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Grants-in-aid initiative is crafted to ensure equitable access to tertiary education for less privileged students in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

Annually, students from diverse fields are chosen to receive grants to pursue Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Programs across various tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n

In previous years, the government has allocated Grants-in-aid to a total of 8,112 Sierra Leonean students.<\/p>\n

Out of this figure, 408 students secured international scholarships, enabling them to pursue studies in seventeen countries worldwide. The remaining 7,704 grants were awarded to students currently enrolled in various courses at domestic universities.<\/p>\n

Among the beneficiaries, 217 are children of teachers with a decade or more of service in Sierra Leone. Additionally, 322 members of the security forces (including police, military, fire service, and correctional officers) are recipients of President Bio\u2019s grants.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, 45 students with disabilities and 2,696 students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses are among the beneficiaries of the program.<\/p>\n
