Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>During the Ministry of Information and Civic Education weekly press briefing, Hon. Alusine Kanneh, the Chief Immigration Officer, revealed significant changes to the passport application process for Lebanese residents in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a tweet by MOICE shortly after the press briefing Hon. Alusine Kanneh stated that Lebanese individuals residing in Sierra Leone will no longer be permitted to obtain Sierra Leone passports remotely. Emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll Lebanese living in Sierra Leone and who want our passport would no longer be allowed to apply remotely for passports without having their biometrics captured\u201d Hon. Alusine Conteh.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the latest upgrades to the passport application forms, Hon. Alusine Conteh, the Chief Immigration Officer, explained, \u201cWe have incorporated the National Identification Number (NIN) into our passport application forms. This added layer of security is designed to ensure that Sierra Leone passports are exclusively granted to eligible Sierra Leoneans and prevent unauthorized access by foreigners.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addressing the challenges faced upon assuming leadership of the Immigration Department, Hon. Alusine Kanneh pointed out a historical issue of overcrowding.<\/p>\n

He attributed this problem to poor accommodation and the involvement of unauthorized volunteers engaged in unscrupulous activities. However, he proudly declared, \u201cThat is now a thing of the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

These measures signal the government\u2019s commitment to strengthening border security and safeguarding the integrity of Sierra Leonean passports, aiming to prioritize the interests and security of its citizens.<\/p>\n
