Failure to elect a new Speaker by the deadline would result in a halt to all parliamentary deliberations, as mandated by Sub-Section 5 of Section 79 of the 1991 Constitution, preventing any further legislative proceedings.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate a power struggle for the coveted Speakership position, with Acting Speaker Hon. Sengepor Solomon Thomas and former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Hon.
