Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The National Consumer Protection Commission (NCPC) issued a press release to address misconceptions regarding its operations and relationships with civil society organizations (CSOs).<\/b><\/p>\n

The release highlighted that various civil society organizations, including the Consumer Protection Agency, the Consumer Protection Council, the Consumer Welfare Association, and Consumer Watch, play crucial roles in advocating for consumer interests and well-being in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

Contrary to some derogatory and threatening statements circulating on social media, the NCPC affirmed that there is no discord between these groups and the Commission. Instead, there exists a strong spirit of cooperation and collaboration, demonstrated through productive meetings aimed at consensus-building and implementing provisions of the National Consumer Protection Act of 2020.<\/p>\n

The NCPC reassured the public that its operations align with the mandates outlined in the National Consumer Protection Act of 2020. Moreover, it emphasized its commitment to fostering transparent relationships with civil society organizations to enhance business practices and commerce in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

In light of recent negative engagements on social media, aggrieved civil society volunteers were cautioned to refrain from such activities and directed to channel their grievances through appropriate channels, including their respective agency heads, for proper redress.<\/p>\n
