Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The National Sports Authority (NSA) has strongly condemned the regrettable incident that overshadowed the FA Cup Final clash between Bo Rangers and East End Lions at the Port Loko Field on Saturday, May 4th, 2024.<\/p>\n

The NSA expressed deep concern over the unsportsmanlike behavior displayed during the match and emphasized its firm stance against all forms of violence in sports.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued shortly after the incident, the NSA reiterated its commitment to promoting sportsmanship and unity among the people of the country. The Authority emphasized that sports should serve as a platform for fostering camaraderie and healthy competition, rather than being marred by acts of violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply troubled by the unfortunate events that transpired during the FA Cup Final,\u201d stated a spokesperson for the NSA. \u201cAs an Authority, we vehemently denounce any form of violence in sports. Such behavior has no place on the field, and it goes against the principles of fair play and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NSA further emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged the relevant authorities to expedite the process and make their findings public. The Authority underscored the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions and ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the significance of fair play and integrity in sports, the NSA called upon the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to take decisive action in response to the incident. The Authority urged the SLFA to consider relocating the remainder of the FA Cup Final to a neutral venue to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge the SLFA to act swiftly and decisively in addressing this matter,\u201d emphasized the NSA. \u201cIt is imperative that the remaining matches of the FA Cup be conducted in a safe and secure environment, free from any threats of violence or disruption.\u201d<\/p>\n
