Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) held a meeting with the cross-party Committee on Electoral Systems and Management Bodies Review (Tripartite) at New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, Ahead of the long-anticipated report of the Tripartite in June<\/p>\n

The committee from ECSL was led by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Konneh, and other commissioners including top management and staff.<\/p>\n

The Tripartite Committee showed their appreciation to ECSL and thanked the Commission for cooperating with the Committee.<\/p>\n

The Chief Commissioner expressed his Commission\u2019s commitment to work together with the Committee at all times in the nature to support growth in the country.<\/p>\n

Tension has been seen all over the country as the people of Sierra Leone await the report.<\/p>\n

Earlier President Bio has made clear that the next national elections in Sierra Leone will be held in 2028.<\/p>\n

At a ceremony in Bo the president accused some politicians of propagating false information that another election would be held in the country and that they would be coming out in June.<\/p>\n

He said the country belongs to everyone, and a group of people will not decide to cause confusion and make the lives of others miserable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe came through ballots, and anyone who comes with a bullet, you will be sent back with a bullet,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n

Some members of the main opposition All People\u2019s Congress have been claiming that the Tripartite Committee was set up to ensure that a rerun of June 2023 is held, a claim the U.S Ambassador, Bryan Hunt has denied on public radio as one of the initiators of the Committee that was set up following concerns on the conduct of the June 2023 elections.<\/p>\n

The Tripartite Committee on Electoral Systems and Management Bodies Review which comprises the opposition APC, the ruling SLPP, and the government is expected to complete its work and present a report to President Bio next month.<\/p>\n
