Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The NP Sierra Limited (NP-SL) has on Saturday 1st June 2024, climaxed its second edition of the Inter Secondary School Squash Competition.<\/b><\/p>\n

This competition was hosted at the Saint Edwards Senior School Squash facility at Kingtom with eleven Schools battling for cash Prizes and Trophies comprising eleven male and female schools in Freetown<\/p>\n

In his welcome address Vice Principal of Saint Edwards Secondary School Mr. Eustace Wachuku- John welcomed participants from the respective schools attending the competition and urged them to be comfortable at their school\u2019s squash facility. He went on to applaud the Management of NPSL for boosting squash in schools and prayed that God will reward NPSL for the good Job they are doing in the country.<\/p>\n

The competition climaxed with presentation of prizes and certificates to participants. Methodist Girls High School Won the Star Prize in the Under 14 Girls Categories, Lebanese International Under 14 Boys Categories, Services Secondary School the U16 Boys Categories, Methodist Girls High School Under 16 Girls and Mohamed Bah from WAM Collegiate Secondary school won the U21 Boys Categories.<\/p>\n

In his keynote address, Saidu Mansaray, the new CEO of NP Sierra Leone, emphasized on the company\u2019s long-standing commitment to supporting education, health and sports. He underscored the importance of squash as a sport, tracing its origins in Prisons of London during the 19th-century and noting its current global popularity among over 20 million adding that the first comprehensives of the sports can traced from the United States.<\/p>\n

The new CEO detailed the health benefits of squash, including improved blood pressure, enhanced gut health and reduced risks of various conditions. He emphasized the sport\u2019s accessibility and year-round playability, making it an ideal activity for students of all skill levels.<\/p>\n

Saidu Mansaray also revealed NP\u2019s plans to construct two new squash courts, aiming to diversify sporting options and foster community unity and harmony. He stressed the integration of sports with education, noting that such initiatives help students develop crucial life skills and self-motivation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to create an environment where sports and education work hand in hand,\u201d he stated. \u201cWe are committed to supporting our youth by providing facilities, hosting annual competitions and offering rewards such as medals, trophies and scholarships.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. James Communications Manager of NPSL Dr. Williette Keme James revealed that NPSL is engaged in various corporate social responsibility activities across the country and that they continue to provide jobs for Sierra Leonean professionals ranging from Accountants, Engineers, Communication Professionals and others.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast Year we had the first Inter Sec. School Squash Competition, this year also we have this second edition and by Next Year it should be something bigger than this,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

Many Corporate institutions have been accused of making money without giving back to society in the name of \u2018corporate greed\u2019. However, as a corporate entity, NP- SL believes that business can only thrive when the communities within which they work are equally thriving, thus the need for NP SL involvements in Corporate Social Responsibility.<\/p>\n

Since youths account for over 60% of the population across Sierra Leone , NP-SL believes that through Sports empowerment with the relevant skills required in the current times they will achieve competitiveness and drive inclusive growth, It will positively impact communities. This strategic move is to really unlock the potentials of the youths in building the economy.<\/p>\n

NP SL believes that their vision to build sustainable societies can be achieved through partnerships and collaborations, helping the realization of CEO, Saidu Mansaray transformational drive.<\/p>\n
