Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a significant disruption during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates 2024.<\/p>\n

On May 31, 2024, WAEC officials monitoring the exams were violently attacked during a routine visit to Lower Bambara Secondary School in Panguma, Kenema. This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and integrity of the examination process.<\/p>\n

According to a press release dated June 1, 2024, the attack involved both candidates and school authorities, highlighting a severe breach of conduct and examination protocols. The Council expressed deep concern over the violence directed at its officials, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and orderly environment during the examination period.<\/p>\n

In response to the incident, WAEC has taken immediate action to ensure the continuity and security of the examination process. The examination centre at Lower Bambara Secondary School has been relocated to Nasir Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Kenema. This measure is intended to safeguard the well-being of both the candidates and the examination officials for the remaining papers.<\/p>\n

Candidates previously assigned to Lower Bambara Secondary School are now required to report to the new centre at Nasir Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School for the duration of their exams.
