Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Doctors with Africa CUAMM, a non-profit organization focused on improving healthcare in Africa, held a stakeholder engagement event on Wednesday 3rd July 2024, to mark the end of the second phase of its malnutrition reduction project in Pujehun District.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, funded by Irish Aid, aimed to contribute to the reduction of malnutrition in all its forms through integrated interventions in health, nutrition, food security, and livelihoods. It targeted 8 chiefdoms in Pujehun District, reaching 62 communities and 30 peripheral health units.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Daniel Okaail, the Area Manager of CUAMM\u2019s Pujehun base, highlighted the key achievements and lessons learned from the project\u2019s implementation over the past year. He expressed gratitude to the people of Pujehun for welcoming and accommodating the organization, which has been active in the district since 2011.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this project, we have been able to make significant strides in improving the nutritional status of children under five and women of reproductive age in Pujehun,\u201d said Okaail. \u201cWe are grateful for the support and collaboration of the local authorities and communities, which has been instrumental in the success of our interventions.\u201d<\/p>\n

District Health Sister Ella Sawyer commended CUAMM for its contributions to the district\u2019s healthcare system, stating that the organization\u2019s presence has helped solve many health complications affecting the people. She called for continued collaboration to further improve healthcare and save lives in Pujehun.<\/p>\n

Foday Kandeh Rogers, the Chairman of the Pujehun District Council, described CUAMM\u2019s stay in the district as a \u201cblessing in disguise,\u201d noting that the organization\u2019s interventions have saved many lives. He praised the project\u2019s efforts in equipping healthcare workers at the peripheral health units.<\/p>\n

The Chairman Council of Paramount Chief Pujehun District, PC Samuel Ansumana Saffa Gbonda, welcomed the attendees and acknowledged the organization\u2019s lifesaving work in the district.<\/p>\n

As Doctors with Africa CUAMM\u2019s malnutrition phase 2 project in Pujehun comes to an end, the organization has assured the local community of its continued presence and commitment to supporting the district\u2019s healthcare and development efforts.The event also featured a presentation on the project\u2019s overview and key achievements, followed by a question-and-answer session with the stakeholders.<\/p>\n
