Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Magistrate Briama Jah presiding over the Kenema Magistrate Court No.2 has sentenced one Mustapha Jayah Kamara to four years imprisonment at the Kenema Male Correctional Center.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mustapha was standing trial on one count charge of false pretenses contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.<\/p>\n

It was alleged that Mustapha who is a resident of Hawa Lamin Street, Ngombu Layout in Kenema City, defrauded one Ada Jestina Yambasu.<\/p>\n

According to the prosecutor, PC 15361 Vonja Thomas, the convict, Mustapha, on Monday, 11th May 2024, at the Holy Trinity Secondary School along Blama Road in Kenema City, with the intent to defraud, obtained the sum of Three Thousand New Leones (NLe3000,00) from Ada Jestina Yambasu by falsely pretending that he have a government grant in aid and can make it be awarded to her child, knowing the same to be false.<\/p>\n

After the charge was read and explained to him, he pleaded guilty to the offense and begged for mercy.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Brima Jah before delivering the sentence, having heard from the prosecution, the facts of the case and record of the accused person, and having heard from the convict who pleaded guilty and asked for mercy, warned the accused to deviate from such an act, adding it is not good for him and his community.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Brima Jah did not give the accused person an alternative sentence but a custodian sentence. The magistrate therefore sent Musa Jayah Kamara to four years imprisonment.<\/p>\n
