Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>Fourah Bay senior lecturer, Professor Alusine Jalloh and his family have donated emergency financial support to dedicated teachers of his alma mater, St. Edward\u2019s Secondary School, May Park, Kingtom in Freetown.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cThe gesture by the Jalloh family, particularly Dr. Alpha Omar Jalloh, Professor Alusine Jalloh and Mr. Alhassan Jalloh, our benefactor came at a particular time we needed this money,\u201d said Eustace Nwachukwu John, Vice Principal of the Senior Secondary School.<\/p>\n

The Vice Principal added that the recipients faced financial constraints especially with the payment of university tution fees for their children.<\/p>\n

The recipients of the financial aid include Mr. Olufemi Brown, Mr. Yayah Kallon, Mr. Michael Koroma.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really timely because we went to the association (the St. Edward\u2019s Old Boys Association), they promised us but they couldn\u2019t,\u201d Vice Principal John stated.<\/p>\n

Michael Koroma, Senior Teacher at the Commercial Department, expressed his appreciation to the Jalloh family. \u201cWe appreciate you and we pray that God will continue to bless you guys,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Senior Mathematics teacher at the school, Olufemi Brown also expressed his appreciation for the aid referring to it as \u201cone of its kind\u201d. The teacher with over 22 years experience said, \u201cThis is a remarkable gesture that lives me speechless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Most secondary schools in Sierra Leone have old students associations which bring together different classes of pupils with the aim of developing and promoting their alma mater. Professor Jalloh, an Old Edwardian himself, has been philanthropic towards the progress of his schools not only limited to St. Edwards but also the Holy Trinity Secondary School where he got his primary education.<\/p>\n

In fact, with his personal fund and that of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, United States. Earlier this October, he also donated outdoor recreational equipment and sporting goods.<\/p>\n

He said his motivation is hinged on the fact that the Holy Trinity School is his first school growing up on Goree Street in Central Freetown and feels that he should give back.<\/p>\n
