Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>In a formal handing-over ceremony, the outgoing Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohamed Lamin Tarawally Esq., officially transferred office responsibilities to his successor, Alpha Sesay Esq.<\/p>\n

The event marked a smooth transition within the legal arm of the government, highlighting teamwork, continuity, and professional camaraderie.<\/p>\n

In his statement, Tarawally congratulated Sesay on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the ministry, given his previous role as Deputy Attorney General. He acknowledged the challenges associated with the position but emphasized that a strong team is essential for success. \u201cIt is not an easy mantle to carry, but with the team around you, I am sure you will do more,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n

The outgoing Attorney General reflected on his tenure, noting that his rise from Solicitor General to Attorney General was facilitated by the support of a dedicated team. He stressed the importance of continuity in governance and legal affairs, stating that it would have been irresponsible to leave office without a formal handing-over process. \u201cEven though you were my deputy and have insight into ongoing operations, I see it as unfruitful not to guide or inform you on issues that were successful and those that are pending,\u201d he explained. He further pointed out that some legal matters are highly intricate and require a clear understanding to ensure smooth progress.<\/p>\n

To aid the transition, Tarawally presented Sesay with a seven-page report detailing key issues within the ministry, along with two laptops\u2014one being his official work device and the other a cabinet-issued laptop used for virtual meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Wishing Sesay success in his new role, Tarawally reassured him of his continued support and advised him to always prioritize court matters, emphasizing that all cases before the judiciary are of significant importance. \u201cIt has been an honor to serve as Attorney General, and now I take pride in seeing my younger brother take up the mantle,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In response, the newly appointed Attorney General, Alpha Sesay, expressed his appreciation for the formal handover, noting that such transitions are often overlooked. He commended Tarawally\u2019s leadership and mentorship, describing him as a supportive colleague and elder brother. \u201cFrom day one, he welcomed me with open hands, and I have learned a lot from him. I will continue to seek his guidance when necessary,\u201d Sesay remarked.<\/p>\n

Sesay further revealed that Tarawally was among the first to congratulate him upon his appointment and even attended his swearing-in ceremony, a gesture he found commendable. He also highlighted the smooth transition as an example for other government institutions to emulate.<\/p>\n

Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Sesay pledged to build on the successes of his predecessor and collaborate effectively with his deputy, Dr. Madam Saptieu Saccoh. He also assured that informal engagements and consultations with his predecessor would continue when necessary.<\/p>\n
