Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The University of Lunsar has issued a forceful rebuttal against what it describes as \u201cblatantly false and deprecating\u201d statements made by a journalist regarding its accreditation status.<\/b><\/p>\n

The response comes after a video clip from an AYV program, featuring Abdul Rahman Kamara, circulated on social media. In the clip, Kamara questioned the Tertiary Education Commission\u2019s (TEC) decision to grant accreditation to the university, specifically referencing its Master\u2019s in Nursing program and implying the institution was unfit.<\/p>\n

In a press release dated November 21st, the university administration strongly refuted these claims, labeling Kamara a \u201cwannabe journalist\u201d whose \u201cignorance is insufferable.\u201d The statement expressed dismay at what it called the decline of journalistic integrity, stating it is \u201cdangerous when ignorance spiced with calumny is given a microphone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The university defended its credentials, highlighting that it was founded by Professor Sheikh Umarr Kamarah and Dr. Marie Umarr Kamarah, a couple with years of teaching experience in United States universities. The institution stated its mission is \u201cto promote excellence in education\u201d and recapture Sierra Leone\u2019s legacy of quality learning, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Nursing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did not come here to make money; we came to make a difference,\u201d the release stated, emphasizing heavy investment in technology and resources to meet national and international standards.<\/p>\n

To counter the journalist\u2019s insinuations, the university detailed the TEC\u2019s \u201crobust accreditation process,\u201d which involves teams of independent experts assessing an institution\u2019s resources, staff, and curricula. The university asserted it has earned every accreditation through this rigorous process and that the TEC Chairman does not unilaterally grant approvals.<\/p>\n
