While no official reason was given for his removal, Bangura had previously served as Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs before his elevation and was known for several youth-focused initiatives.

President Bio appointed Ibrahim Sannoh as the new Minister of Youth Affairs in late 2025. Sannoh has since embarked on an aggressive agenda, including:

Deepening development cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Seoul, where he proposed a “Tech Farm,” entrepreneurship support, fishing initiatives, and e-mobility solutions for youth empowerment

Hosting the new Chinese Ambassador Zhao Yong, with whom he discussed youth-focused collaboration, skills training, and innovation

Overseeing the passing-out ceremony of Batch Eight of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where he described the programme as a “living bridge between education and nation-building”

Engaging Leone Rock Mining Group to advance youth employment and skills development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities

Participating in a Ramadan iftar programme organized by the Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı in Freetown

Sahr Memphis, the CEO of BORN2BLOG, was detained by the Sierra Leone Police at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in November 2025 over allegations of cyberbullying and misinformation.

The detention stemmed from publications made by the blogger concerning the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) and its Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio. Memphis had alleged that a container had “vanished” from the Queen Elizabeth II Quay, an allegation the Ports Authority publicly denied.

New allegations emerged during that detention, with media influencer Prezo Koroma claiming that evidence against Memphis was “overwhelming,” including recordings of Memphis allegedly demanding money and testimonies from other individuals who claimed to have been blackmailed through the BORN2BLOG platform.

A leaked chat transcript purportedly showed Memphis negotiating for a payment, with one message reading: “The moment den ge something bra case don don we nr go blast again”.

Hon.
