Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) announced the temporary closure of Highbroad Street in Murray Town starting Friday, April 10, to facilitate ongoing road construction.<\/b><\/p>\n

The two-week closure, coordinated in collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Public Assets (MWPA) and private contractor SECON, is expected to conclude on April 24.<\/p>\n

Officials stated the timeline is designed to complete the roadworks and fully reopen the thoroughfare ahead of the country\u2019s national Independence Day celebrations on April 27.<\/p>\n

According to an SLRA press release, the primary objective of the expedited construction is to ensure improved road safety and connectivity prior to the upcoming holiday festivities.<\/p>\n

During the construction period, traffic management teams have designated Doherty Street as the primary alternative route. On-site personnel will manage additional detours to redirect traffic away from the work zone. The SLRA is urging road users to follow all posted signs and advising commuters to anticipate travel delays and adjust their schedules accordingly.<\/p>\n

Despite the comprehensive closure, the authority confirmed that localized access for residents, local businesses, and essential services will be maintained wherever possible, utilizing traffic control escorts in high-activity areas. Emergency service vehicles will be guaranteed unhindered access to the area at all times.<\/p>\n

The SLRA and MWPA stated they will provide ongoing progress updates via official press releases, social media channels, and the agency\u2019s website throughout the duration of the project.<\/p>\n
