Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Internal Affairs convened its rotating inter-agency meeting at the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) new administrative building to enhance operational delivery and security sector collaboration and cooperation. On Thursday, 4th June 2026.<\/p>\n

Chaired by the Minister of Internal Affairs, AIG Rtd. Morie Lengor, Esq., commenced his address by commending the heads of Agencies for their commitment and collective synergy in advancing their mandates.<\/p>\n

He motivated the team, promising to leverage his oversight policy and political will to drive and elevate the performance of the Ministry\u2019s Agencies and Departments. He further urged them to sustain this collaboration, emphasizing that dedicated teamwork and diligent efforts are key to resolving security issues and implored them to execute their duties with the utmost care and professional integrity.<\/p>\n

Minister Lengor, Esq., also announced that he would engage the Sierra Leone Police across the Western Area and other regions to map out a proactive security strategy. He mentioned that criminality typically increases during the rainy season, noting that crime often spikes during heavy rains, as criminals use the weather to target vulnerable households.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Director General of SLCS, Mr. Jeseph J. Senesie, representing the host agency, thanked everyone on behalf of the management and staff of SLCS for attending and expressed his pleasure at hosting the meeting.<\/p>\n

DG Senesie, in his briefing on the operational activities of the SLCS, discussed upcoming efforts by the government and the Ministry of Works and Public Assets in advancing plans to build a new state-of-the-art facility to house inmates.<\/p>\n

Finally, other agency heads provided updates to the assembly, outlining their key achievements, ongoing challenges, and strategic areas for improvement.<\/p>\n
