Unemployment in South Africa is expected to continue to rise as the forecast fourth wave of COVID-19 infections towards year-end could scupper any attempts to create new jobs. Data from Statistics South Africa shows that jobs in the formal non-agricultural sector shrank by 86 000 in the second quarter of 2021.
