Africa-Press – South-Africa. A man died and two others were injured after an armed man allegedly went on a rampage at a tavern near Hazyview, Mpumalanga.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.
“The report indicates that a scuffle broke out between [sic] four men in a tavern at Shabalala Trust (Hazyview area) around 06:30.
“One of the men is said to have fired some shots at the other three men and torched two vehicles, a VW Golf and an Isuzu bakkie, before he fled the scene,” Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police opened a murder case, and two counts of attempted murder and arson.
According to Mohlala, police will also investigate whether the liquor outlet was operating lawfully.

A manhunt was launched for the man. Police urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Crime Stop.
“All received information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” Mohlala said.
The provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela called for liquor business owners to operate within the ambits of the law and to ensure that patrons were not armed.
“There are regulation for liquor businesses, and these controlling measures should be adhered to by all operators in order to prevent similar incidents like these. Be that as it may, the law should take its course,” Manamela said.
