Africa-Press – South-Africa. Free State police are searching for a 30-year-old man who allegedly dismembered his mother’s body and stabbed his father in the chest.

The incident happened in Riverside on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini said a family member identified the deceased as 65-year-old Modiehi Khodumo Mokoena.

Dhlamini said Mokoena’s brother had gone to her house looking for her. However, no one opened after he knocked on the door, and he suspected that something was wrong.

From there, the brother went to the police station and informed the police of his suspicions, said Dhlamini. Officers then accompanied him to the house, where they found residents who told them that the father had been stabbed and taken to hospital.

Inside the house, police made a gruesome discovery.

They found a grinder, as well as human remains which had been cut into pieces in the garage.

Dhlamini said:

“When his father tried to enquire about what was happening, the son took out a knife and stabbed him in the chest, and as a result he was admitted to the hospital with serious stab wounds,” said Dhlamini.

“The suspect is 1.5m tall with natural hair, has no beard and is slender in body shape. He is 30 years old and was last seen wearing a striped T-shirt and black jeans.”

Modiehi Mokoena is believed to have been killed on Monday or Tuesday.

According to Dhlamini, the son had a tumultuous relationship with his parents because of his alleged drug use.

Cases of murder and attempted murder were being investigated, said Dhlamini.

Dhlamini said anyone with information about the son’s whereabouts should contact detective Lieutenant Colonel Japhta Milela on 079 889 3311 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
