Africa-Press – South-Africa. Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Limpopo woman whose decomposed body was found dumped in bushes.

Conny Sekhukhune, 36, a financial clerk at Ga-Kgoshigadi Malepe tribal office, was reported missing in Burgersfort on Friday, 9 September.

Her disappearance was reported to the police by her family, who suspected that her boyfriend might have been involved. At the time, Sekhukhune had a protection order issued against him, and the couple had been separated for six months.

Police officers visited the boyfriend’s home to search for Sekhukhune. She was not found, but police discovered “some blood stains on the floor of the kitchen”, said police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

On Wednesday afternoon, police received a report that a body had been dumped in the bushes along the R555 next to Thaba Moshate hotel in Burgersfort.

Officers recovered the body, and Sekhukhune was positively identified by a family member.

“Police immediately commenced with the investigation, which led to the arrest of the driver of [a taxi] who transported the deceased from her boyfriend’s house.

Ledwaba said:

The 47-year-old boyfriend is under police guard in hospital.

“This is one of the horrendous incidents of gender-based violence, [and] a young woman lost her life at the hands of a heartless man,” said Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

“It is a sad moment for the family, and the recovery of the body will bring some closure. I would like to commend the team that was involved in the search operation, and thank members of the community who provided valuable information that led to the recovery of the missing woman,” Hadebe added.
