Africa-Press – South-Africa. Mpumalanga police are looking for a man after a decomposed body was found in the ceiling of his home.

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Thabo Silas Tsotetsi told his partner that the stench in the house came from dead rats.

When the smell became too overpowering, the neighbours called the police to investigate.

“The police began to check the house in order to determine where the odour was coming from.”

They couldn’t see anything from the ceiling trapdoor.

“However, the members proceeded to the next room and broke the ceiling…they made a discovery of a human body wrapped [in] some clothes.”

According to Mohlala, the body was in such an advanced stage of decomposition that they couldn’t even determine the gender of the person.

“However, later, through the shoes that the victim was wearing, as well as…nail polish and other features, it was…determined that it was a female person. A murder case is being investigated.”

In response to the police’s enquiries, the partner said Tsotetsi had left the house on Saturday to run errands but never returned.

Anyone who has information on his whereabouts, or who can assist police in their investigation, can contact Detective Sergeant Moeketsi Mofokeng on 072 351 3801, or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Alternatively, members of the public can send information via the My SAPS app.
