Africa-Press – South-Africa. A 31-year-old man was arrested in Sabie, Mpumalanga, for unlawful possession of explosives.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the man was tracked down on Thursday, and was apprehended while walking down the street.

He was found in possession of 10 superpower blasting cartridges, 10 green cap fuses, and a 50-metre detonating cord.

“The suspect was arrested for unlawful possession of explosives and further investigation will be conducted to establish if the suspect is not part of the ATM bombing syndicates in the province.

“The Department of Home Affairs will also be brought on board, and police cannot rule out that a contravention of the Immigration Act charge could be added,” Mohlala said.

The man is expected to appear in the Sabie Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
