Africa-Press – South-Africa. A 38-year Free State woman has been arrested on a murder charge following the deaths of her teenage sons on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said the children, aged 15 and 19, arrived from school to eat the food she had cooked.
“On Thursday, 1 June 2023, the two boys arrived home from school and ate food allegedly cooked by their mother. The two started feeling sick and were taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle. Upon arrival, they were taken to an emergency room but lost their lives,” said Kareli.
“The 38-year-old mother went home, and shortly after her arrival, she was also rushed to the hospital with the same symptoms. Two cases of murder were opened, and the 38-year-old mother was placed under arrest while still in hospital,” said Kareli.
When asked why the police suspected the mother was behind their deaths, Kareli said they were still investigating and could not reveal more details at this stage.
