Africa-Press – South-Africa. The African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane said it’s now focused on assembling a Government of Local Unity to lead the city, following the Democratic Alliance (DA)’s removal from power.

Earlier this week, the DA’s Cilliers Brink was ousted through an ANC-sponsored motion of no confidence, which was supported by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA.

ANC regional spokesperson Bafuze Yabo said the party would form a government that would rebuild the city’s finances and improve service delivery.

“With the ousting of the DA’s ‘golden boy’ mayor, we are committed to rebuilding our city into an entity that serves all, prioritising the needs of the people over political agendas. Together, we will work towards a brighter future for all residents of the City of Tshwane.”

He said the DA had collapsed the City of Tshwane.

“It is the fundamental duty of municipalities to ensure access to clean drinking water, and the DA must be held accountable for the dire consequences of the cholera outbreak linked to this failure. There has been a significant lack of refuse collection in townships, further highlighting the neglect experienced by our communities.”
