Africa-Press – South-Africa. International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola has welcomed Tanzania’s decision to lift its import ban on South African agricultural products, calling it a positive step toward deeper regional collaboration.

This follows successful diplomatic talks between Lamola and his Tanzanian counterpart.

The announcement coincides with Tanzania’s 61st anniversary of unification, a milestone Lamola described as a “beacon of Pan-Africanism”.

In a statement, Lamola praised the resolution, saying it highlights the power of dialogue in resolving challenges and reaffirms both countries’ shared commitment to Pan-Africanism and economic integration.

The minister added that Tanzania’s example of unity and progress continues to inspire the continent, adding that it coincides with South Africa preparing for Freedom Day

His spokesperson Chrispin Phiri said, “Looking ahead, Minister Lamola expressed optimism for deepened collaboration, urging continued efforts to strengthen trade, people-to-people ties and regional integration.

“Let this decision be a stepping stone towards even greater collaboration as we work together to realise the aspirations of Agenda 2063, the Africa we want.”
