Shivambu Claims Political Homes Can't Solve SA's Issues

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Leader of the Mayibuye Afrika Movement Floyd Shivambu said none of his former political homes are up to the task of sorting out the country’s problems.

He said after thirty years, the African National Congress (ANC) has worsened the plight of citizens, while neither the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), nor the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party are formidable alternatives.

Shivambu’s new political movement will on Friday host a second day of discussions on its new manifesto as it prepares foundational documents for its November convention.

Shivambu left the EFF over a year ago after serving as its deputy president since its formation and then was fired from the MK Party in June after briefly serving as its secretary general.

“They both lack collective and individual capacity and willingness and the necessary fortitude to fight the crisis that confront South African society.”

Shivambu said his assessment of the performance of other political parties is not intended to be an insult.

“There’s nothing wrong with giving political characterisation of all the role players in society. We are not insulting anyone. But we must be honest enough to say that by your habits, by your culture, by your mannerisms, you are unable to fulfil the following responsibilities.”
