KZN ANC Leaders Must Undergo Lifestyle Audits

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal said party leaders must now be subjected to lifestyle audits in a bid to curb self-enrichment.

The party said there had been a trend of people joining the former liberation movement for their own personal gain and benefit.

This was among the issues raised at the political education class addressed by former party president, Thabo Mbeki, in Durban on Saturday.

The ANC provincial task team appointed to lead party structures in KZN in the interim said the lifestyle of ANC leaders will now have to be audited.

This applies to party leaders at all levels, as well as their councillors andmembers of the executive council.

Provincial task team convenor, Jeff Hadebe: “Both public servants and political leaders leading in government, as well as well the ANC, must undergo lifestyle audits to restore comradeship and to re-cultivate a culture of trust.”

Hadebe added that the use of government resources and positions to advance personal interests had dented the party.

He said the ANC had to take it upon itself as it continues to rebuild.
