Africa-Press – South-Africa. A senior police official is set to leave the country on Tuesday to meet investigators in France over the death of South Africa’s Ambassador, Nathi Mthethwa.

The 58-year-old died in Paris last week after he allegedly fell from the twenty-second floor of a popular hotel in the French capital.

On Friday, police reported they would send a team of five senior detectives, but National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola said only one would be heading to France.

Addressing the media in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, Masemola said the objective is to receive a report from French authorities regarding Mthethwa’s death.

“We are working on police-to-police cooperation. We do have a senior officer that will be in the country. He will be leaving today and update the nation on his activities and whereabouts once he’s there.”
