Africa-Press – South-Africa. Newly reappointed Johannesburg transport MMC, Kenny Kunene, says he intends to pick up where he left off following his return to government.
Kunene resigned earlier this year after he was found at the home of Katiso “KT” Molefe, an alleged underworld figure accused of orchestrating the murder of Oupa Sefoka, better known as DJ Sumbody.
He was recently reinstated after an investigation initiated by the Patriotic Alliance (PA) cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Kunene spoke to journalists about his reappointment on Wednesday on the sidelines of a service delivery programme in Soweto.
“Young people were stopping me at corners and saying we are going to vote for you as mayor”, claims Patriotic Alliance deputy leader Kenny Kunene.

For the past three months, the city had no transport MMC, with Mayor Dada Morero acting in the position.
Kunene said that he was glad to be back, adding that it was now back to work.
“I know how to turn around the city. I’ve turned the transport department around. I know what needs to be done in Johannesburg.”
The Patriotic Alliance had threatened to withdraw from the Government of National Unity (GNU) if Kunene was not reappointed as transport MMC.
Kunene was recently reappointed as the MMC for Transport in Johannesburg after stepping down in July.
