Africa-Press – South-Africa. Cape Winelands Airport has today announced a partnership with construction company WBHO to build a multibillion-rand airport at Fisantekraal Airfield.

Plans are now underway to develop a state-of-the-art airport at the airfield, situated 13 kilometres outside of Durbanville.

Cape Winelands Airport Director, Dion Cloete, says the airport expansion will cost about R8 billion and create more than 30,000 jobs, with a proposed opening date in 2027.

Cloete says the project is now advancing to a crucial new phase of technical development and planning.

“The signing of the joint development agreement with WBHO represents a critical and important milestone and allows now to move forward with WBHO as the main contractor and all of the professionals in preparing the detailed design ready for construction.”
