Africa-Press – South-Africa. One of the candidates vying for the position of National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss has told the advisory panel conducting interviews that he is concerned about the future of the country.
Advocate Adrian Mopp, Deputy Director of Prosecutions in the Western Cape, is the second candidate to appear before the panel.
The advisory panel, chaired by Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi , has proceeded with the interviews despite the DA sending a lawyer’s letter threatening to interdict the process.
Mopp, who started working as a prosecutor 33 years ago, has spoken about what drives him to do his work.
“I lie awake at night worrying about the future of our country. I’m sure many South Africans do. I’ve now resorted to listening to a podcast at that time of the morning to get myself back to sleep. But I’m concerned about the future of our country. Concerned about the threats that we face as a nation. The threats we face a criminal justice system and I’m in prosecution because I want to make a difference.”
