Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has pledged his support for Provincial police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Ntuli said he still wants Mkhwanazi in charge of policing in his province.
Mkhwanazi’s term comes to an end in March.
During his appearance before parliament’s ad hoc committee on his explosive allegations of infiltration into law enforcement system General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said his term as provincial commissioner lapses in March 2026.
However, he said talks on whether he remains or not can only begin three months prior.
During an inspection at the Durban beach promenade KwaZulu-Natal premier Ntuli had this to say:
“From my side on behalf of the people of KwaZulu-Natal we are happy with the work that he is doing and that the police are doing, hence I will have no doubt to give it a yes for Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to continue,” said Ntuli.
Scores of people chanted and sang songs about the commissioner during his visit to the Durban beach front with some praising him.
