Africa-Press – South-Africa. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is still allowing students to submit outstanding documents for funding in the 2026 academic year.
More than 21,000 documents from applicants remain outstanding, while 85,000 applications are being processed.
More than 600,000 students have been approved for funding for the new academic year – and no new applications are being accepted.
NSFAS spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi said outstanding and incomplete documents from applicants remain a challenge.
“We want to appeal to students that when they send their consent form, they must make sure that the income data and the other requirements that need parents or guardians are valid. So, they must be able to attach the necessary id documents which are verified.”
