Increased Demand Pressures Tshwane Water Network

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Areas supplied by the Soshanguve, Mabopane and Klipgat reservoirs are tipped to be most affected as water levels have plummeted to lowest levels.

The City of Tshwane is warning that excessive water consumption is straining its water network.

Areas supplied by the Soshanguve, Mabopane and Klipgat reservoirs are tipped to be most affected as water levels have plummeted to lowest levels.

City officials said the areas have been using more than the fair share of an average household, since December last year.

City of Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba explained: “This increased demand is putting pressure on the entire water network which may affect water availability and supply ability. If not reduced, it could lead to larger scale outages.”

Bokaba has advised residents to check for water leaks, reduce shower times and stop non-essential garden watering.
