Sibiya Claims MK Party Behind Reputation Damage Attempts

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya claims the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party are behind attempts to damage his reputation.

Testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday, Sibiya accused former President Jacob Zuma’s party of being the driving force behind KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s explosive 6 July 2025 briefing.

Mkhwanazi accused the criminal justice system in Gauteng of being captured by drug cartels and questionable businessmen.

Sibiya believes the MK Party has a hand to play in politicising the South African Police Service (SAPS).

“The same MK statement is being used by a Brigadier Kunene to apply for a search warrant when my house was raided. The same MK is the one that also came and marched against me at head office. As I’m sitting in the office, you hear people toyi-toying in the street – it’s MK Party.”

He claims MK Party members threatened to incite violence should anything happen to Mkhwanazi.

“You get TikTok messages that say, ‘you touch Mkhwanazi, you touch us, you will see another July unrest that you never had’. There were such messages that would come.”
