Africa-Press – South-Africa. Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie is expected to officially launch South Africa’s cultural and creative industries (CCI) clusters on Monday at the Nirox Sculpture Park in Krugersdorp.
According to the department, the initiative aims to reinforce coordination and representation across 17 creative disciplines.
The department’s Stacey-lee Khojane said that the move is aimed at improving governance, expanding access to funding and markets, and driving transformation and inclusion in a sector, among other things.
“Following extensive consultations between Minister Mckenzie and the cultural and sector stakeholders, including engagements at the 2024 CCI bosberaad, the department has resolved to establish formalised sector clusters across 17 creative disciplines.
“This strategic initiative aims to strengthen coordination and sector representation, enhance governance, accountability and professionalisation, facilitate improved access to funding, markets and policy processes and advance transformation and inclusion across all provinces.” she said.
