Africa-Press – South-Africa. Johannesburg Metro Police is stepping up visibility across the city as part of ongoing Easter weekend safety operations.
Police have arrested 121 motorists for drunk driving this weekend adding that the figures point to a worrying disregard for road safety.
Meanwhile, two fatal accidents have been recorded since the start of the long weekend one involving a pedestrian on Thursday, and another involving a passenger on Good Friday.
JMPD Spokesperson Xolani Fihla said that operations will continue throughout the long weekend to keep city roads safe.
