Africa-Press – South-Africa. Gauteng Education MEC Lebogang Maile says building a stronger and modern education system in the province remains a top priority.
Maile briefed journalists in Sandton on Sunday to outline the state of education in the province.
During his address, Maile outlined plans to integrate technology into the curriculum and strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills to better prepare learners for the future.
He says the province has introduced support strategies, including a focus on language and mathematics and the expansion of technical high schools, with further stakeholder engagement planned to drive the 2025 to 2030 education strategy.
“The aim of the technical high school strategy is to expand participation by promoting and strengthening technical high schools for a changing and modernising world by offering technical subjects that will guide their activities over the next five years to address the skills shortage and unemployment crisis amongst the youth in the country.”
