Africa-Press – South-Africa. The KuGompo Magistrate’s Court has granted Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema’s application for leave to appeal his prison sentence.
However, the court has dismissed his bid to appeal his conviction, maintaining that Malema did indeed break the law.
Malema was sentenced to five years direct imprisonment after being found guilty of violating gun laws.
This, after he was seen on viral footage firing a rifle in public at an EFF rally in 2018.
Malema has now been released on a warning.
