Africa-Press – South-Africa. President Cyril Ramaphosa said “narrow agendas” won’t distract him and his presidency amid calls for him to come clean on the theft of foreign currency at his Phala Phala farm.

Ramaphosa has instead called on parties to work collectively to resolve the country’s many problems.
He said while parties have differed on politics and policy, there is a broad agreement on matters confronting the country that need urgent attention.

On Wednesday, Ramaphosa was responding to the debate on the Presidency budget, which he tabled on Tuesday, in the National Assembly.

During the debate, Ramaphosa faced calls to take the country into his confidence and come clean on the Phala Phala cloud hanging over his head.

But the president said that political noise won’t deter him.

“We won’t be distracted by narrow agendas that have nothing to do with the interests of people of South Africa.”

He said South Africans want solutions to the problems confronting the country, like unemployment and slow economic growth.

“They expect us to come with solutions, they expect leadership from us, they expect accountability and results.”

Ramaphosa also noted a few positive reforms, like how the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) and Transnet, which were once embroiled in State capture, are now being revived through reforms.
