Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Africa<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>DURBAN \u2013 President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to address the nation at 8pm today.<\/p>\n

The Presidency has confirmed Ramaphosa will provide feedback on the latest developments in relation to the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

His address follows a series of meetings with the National Coronavirus Command Council, the President’s Co-ordinating Council and the cabinet.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa also hosted a virtual meeting on Sunday between the government and interfaith leaders regarding the Covid-19 Risk Adjusted Strategy, an inclusive national effort that enables adaptive responses to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

According to the Presidency, the engagement focused on the unfolding pandemic in the country and on the continent, including efforts to secure vaccines for all.<\/p>\n

Last month, Ramaphosa placed the country on an adjusted level 3 lockdown. It is widely speculated tonight\u2019s address could see harsher regulations being implemented due to the country\u2019s growing Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n

As per the latest from the Department of Health, SA has a cumulative total of 1 231 597 positive cases, with 33 163 deaths and 966 368 recoveries.<\/p>\n

Last week, Mkhize said the country was expected to receive 1.5 million doses of the Covid vaccine. He said 1 million doses were due to arrive by the end of the month and the remainder by next month.<\/p>\n
