Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The principal of Hartzstraat Primary School in Randfontein on the West Rand has been suspended for allegedly mismanaging school funds, the Gauteng Department of Education has said.<\/p>\n

Department spokesperson Steve Mabona said the principal was suspended from 1 January 2022 to 28 February 2022 following the outcome of a disciplinary hearing.<\/p>\n

But the principal’s return to the school in March was met with disapproval from disgruntled parents and teachers.<\/p>\n

The group held a protest at the school to voice their frustrations.<\/p>\n

Mabona said there were protests and disruptions at the school this past week but the department was “closely monitoring the situation”.<\/p>\n

He added a meeting was held with the school governing body this past Sunday, but no agreement was reached about the principal’s future at the school.<\/p>\n

“We can confirm that a meeting took place on Sunday at the school, however, no conclusion was reached and as such a new date for a meeting will be communicated.”<\/p>\n
