Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>South African golfer Shaun Norris leads the Steyn City Championship after a sublime second round at The Club at Steyn City on Friday.<\/p>\n

Steyn City Championship<\/p>\n

Norris earned a three-stroke lead heading into the weekend as he posted a flawless round of 62, which included eight birdies and an eagle, to climb to 18-under par overall.<\/p>\n

“Overall, my game was great and I gave myself a lot of chances. I’m smiling out there and I’m very happy,” said Norris.<\/p>\n

Norris’ nearest challenger is fellow countryman James Hart du Preez, who finished with a clubhouse lead of 15-under with his 66.<\/p>\n

Du Preez is relieved to be out of a slump and is focused of being in contention in the co-sanctioned DP World Tour event.<\/p>\n

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend. I’m feeling really comfortable with my game,” said Du Preez.<\/p>\n

“Obviously, there will be a few more nerves on the weekend. But to be in this position is a privilege, and if you didn’t feel nerves, it would be a little bit weird. It’s going to be a lot of fun over the weekend.”<\/p>\n

Dean Burmester also moved into contention as he sits on 13-under par with a 65 that included back-to-back eagles on holes 10 and 11.<\/p>\n

Burmester, who is the highest-ranked South African golfer in the field at 76th, is exactly where he wants to be going into the weekend.<\/p>\n

“I’ve got two more rounds around this beautiful golf course and I’m in contention in this tournament and right where I want to be.”<\/p>\n

Norris, who has his brother Kyle on his bag, is looking forward to having fun this weekend and taking advantage of home conditions.<\/p>\n

“My gameplan will stay the same. I’ll keep smiling, we’ll have fun out there and see what happens,” said Norris.<\/p>\n

“I’m really enjoying being back at home with my family, and my brother and I are having a lot of fun on the golf course as well.<\/p>\n

“He’s also not scared to tell me if he thinks I’m wrong, so we work very well together. It really feels like I’m playing at home.”<\/p>\n
